“Lake Poway is a small, clear reservoir in Poway, CA about 30 miles northeast of downtown San Diego. It is stocked heavily with rainbow trout in the winter months, and offers good fishing for bass, catfish, and bluegill in warmer months. The lake is deep and clear, with good shoreline accessibility. There is no launch ramp, and float tubes, canoes and kayaks are not permitted. Rental boats, including rowboats, motorboats, sailboats, and paddle boats are available through the concession. Lake Poway has many fishing options including shoreline, dock or boat. The lake is stocked with Bass, Bluegill, Catfish, Sunfish, and Trout. The Concessions Stand also sells everything from bait to equipment. California State Licenses are not required to fish on the lake, however, you must purchase a permit. Fees are $3 Youth (8-15), $7 Adult, $3 Senior and $4 for Military (with ID). There are also options for 10-day permits.”

Children 7 years and under may fish off an adult permit with a one fish limit per permit. Night fishing is allowed from June-Sept. on Friday and Saturday nights from 4:00 p.m. to 11:30 p.m. There are also largemouth bass bluegill and crappie here.
